If you are a current or former employee of GeoTek, Inc., reside in the United States, and your information was impacted during the September 2023 targeted cyberattack on GeoTek's computer systems, the "Cybersecurity Incident", then you may be a Settlement Class Member and eligible for benefits. Excluded from the Settlement Class are: (1) the Judge in this case and the Judge’s family and staff; (2) GeoTek and its employees, officers, and directors; (3) anyone who validly excludes themselves from the Settlement; or (4) anyone who perpetrated the Cybersecurity Incident.

If you are a Settlement Class Member and wish to receive Settlement Benefits then you must submit a Claim Form by December 1, 2026.

GeoTek will establish a Settlement Fund of $150,000.00. The Settlement Fund will first be used to pay court-approved attorneys’ fees and costs, Service Award payment for the Plaintiff, and the costs of administering the Settlement. The net remaining money will be used to pay for the benefits as described below.

Credit Monitoring Services. All Class Members are eligible to enroll in two (2) years of Credit Monitoring Services from one credit bureau. This benefit comes with $1 million in identity theft insurance, and includes:

  • real time monitoring of your credit file

  • dark web scanning

  • comprehensive public records monitoring

If anything suspicious happens, you will be able to talk to a fraud resolution agent to help fix any problems.

Out-of-Pocket Expenses. If you incurred actual, documented out-of pocket expenses due to the Cybersecurity Incident, you can get back up to $2,000.00. The losses must have occurred between September 1, 2023, and December 1, 2026. This benefit covers out-of-pocket expenses like:

  • fees for credit reports, credit monitoring, or freezing and unfreezing your credit

  • cost to replace your IDs

  • postage to contact banks by mail

You need to submit proof, like bank statements or receipts, to show how much you spent or lost. You can also provide notes or papers you made yourself to explain or support other proof, but those notes or papers alone are not enough to make a valid claim. Your proof or notes should show that your expenses were because of the Cybersecurity Incident.

Cash Payment. You may also claim a one-time cash payment. This payment is expected to be $25.00, or, for California residents, $75.00. The actual amount may be larger or smaller, depending on the total claims filed.

For more information about each of these benefits, please review the Notice, FAQs and the Settlement Agreement.
